Nice 'dawn' flight deer patrol. It looked like the ground fog was messing with you hiding behind your antenna beam to the north side of the bayou. (4:20, 16:30) A side effect of that north wind. Too bad there is not an HD camera switcher option like is common with analog cameras. Such could allow mounting a second camera with a telephoto lens zoomed in on the centred of the default walksnail lens view. An eagle-eye for the Eagle.

How are you getting the large degree of pan on the camera? I have seen some servos say 180 deg, but you have to give 500 to 2500 to get that. I'm using ELRS and EdgeTX and I can enable extended limits, but still don't get that much range.

That vegetation is probably water chestnut. I work for a company that uses drones to spray stuff like that as well as crop dusting and other invasive species

Ive got a home built 21700 4S battery pack...I use it to power my Walksnail Goggles, it lasts forever. Amazed this plane can fly for 75mins on it.... You're right though, it is a slow Cruiser....🤔😏😀🇬🇧

This thing is so incredibly ugly, looks like the child of a Fiat Multipla and a french car. It only flies, because earth is pushing it away because disgust. Honestly, who desiged this?! How can this land safely with this glob of cancer under the wings?

Im not sure if dshot is even usable for airplane at this point unless you set up the PWM output group to be dshot through the param list or tree beforehand

Thank you for the very informative update. Excellent data on efficiency. When loading it up with battery, the speed at which best efficiency (mAh / ground distance) will be at a higher air speed and should remain about the same. I suspect you've already provided Haohan with feedback on the ESC insulation. Concern I would have is 2 phases of motor ESC could short out causing a reduction in power, or blow a MOSFET. Enabling the ESC brake should improve the power-off glide. Given the excellent low speed performance, you might be able to soar the Firefly in thermals with the birds. That might result is some amazing photo opportunities should you have the gimbal installed. BTW: if the content is good, length does not matter.

Antennas in the bottom of the plane is a great idea since you're always above yourself.

Sweet setup. I have a very similar setup at the moment but im running an 03 and elrs. Love this plane. I realized recently I have enough spare parts to build a second. How did you organize your wires from the wings? The thing that frustrates me most is how messy all that is in my plane. I am going to download and modify your flip mount to hold the usb and my LED controller.

I’d love to see some more content on smaller, lighter planes like the Baby AR wing or Dart 250G.

Oh yeah! The Dragon II is currently the best plane in my fleet. I don't fly it when I need something smaller/more nimble/faster charging/etc., but when I am planning an "epic" flight, it's my first choice! Running DJI O3 on a nose pan and ELRS 900. Flies for daaaays on a 10,000 li-on and could probably fit 20,000 without much problem. Looking forward to it!

Nice hanger talk update. Had wondered about the status of the dragon. Good to see it in the air again with HD updates. You might need a portable display, or tablet to take with you with the pocket radio and penguin. Having an automatic antenna tracker should be a welcome update that reduces reception concerns. Might even be able to link a camera to capture inflight video/photos (just speculating).

I like these updates along with showing clips of a recent flight and the parts and brands you are working on. It's very interesting and keeps me inspired. I just purchased a 900 series RadioMaster ELRS trans and receiver (w/2 antenna's). to replace my aging, outdated Dragonlink 900 series system. It's kind of funny because I ordered them from their website. After about a week I had not received it or the tracking number so I contacted the company. That's when I found out their company is in China, lol. Dang, I didn't look before leaping. Their "Post" or our USPS lost the package on their side of the pond so they mailed another one. Total time to get it was a little over 2 1/2 months. It wasn't RadioMasters fault though as they sent both out within a few days. But the problem the mail service over there. The second (replacement package set in their customs (?) area for over 1 1/2 months. Glad to get it though.

Not sure what you will be using with regard to control with your MFD Tracker, but I recently set-up a MFD Tracker for the first time and I am using DragonLink. I am no expert, but have bit of a cheat-sheet if you are going the DL way.

Thanks for the update, as far as the moonlite kit be careful with those skinny +/- wires I had to resolder mine because it fell right of after that I put some shoe-goo on them to hold them in place

I would be interested in how you are going to communicate the GPS data to the MFD tracker, I had a bluetooth connection set up from my Crossfire module but found it to be very hit and miss.

I have been wondering how the Firefly lands. Not well, it seems ;-) My dude, as a Dolphin owner, I was wondering what you're using for your motor/prop combo? I've got the original motor onboard, and fly on 4S LiPo or LiIon, and lost my stock prop on a takeoff gone wrong.

I have the same problem with the barometer when I raise the throttle with out the propeller the altitude goes up the more I raise the throttle the higher the altitude shows up on the goggles I am running Inav 7.0.

Maybe! Stopping can be more problematic because the machine is too light and short. Of course, it is more practical and comfortable, easier to use than the idea-generating Sky Observer, which is much larger. However, the Sky Observer has such a large size that it prevents it from tipping over and will slide on your stomach. Anyway, I like this plane.

The landing part is what I feared. Maybe it needs a little front gear with skids like a tail dragger?

I believe the antenna placement is the issue for your poor video in the shown flight. Comparing 11:55 to 12:05 you clearly see that once the antenna is not behind the carbon/foam/cables in the connecting part of the fuselage your mbps immediately go up as well as the bars all around are gone

With the configuration of a pod way underneath the fuselage, you are going to have continuous issues on landing. The tendency to flip over will be hard to overcome.

Mate, could you please share your OSD params ? and what Font you are using ? BTW: would be nice having your nicely tuned param files for the planes you showcase in the descriptions of the videos. Would help shedloads of people taking the jump from inav... just saying :) ah and a tuning guide series would also be cool. Great content with excellent informative details, as always. Is great to see the good efficiency numbers. Curious what measure as stall speed, and the stall characteristics in a future flight after tuned? The fields look like a swamp. It explains why sugarcane grows well. I had noticed many storms moving through your area this last week. You are correct; 2.45 GHz is particularly prone to fading in high dewpoint/rain because water absorbs energy so efficiently at this frequency. (ie: this is typical microwave oven frequency, so nearby frequency spectrum is also effected) Regarding the landing, think being a good hold-off flair could help lower touchdown momentum. Ensuring the pod is aligned with the track over the ground, as crabbing into a crosswind could cause most forward wing to dip at touchdown. Saw Giz recorded his landing and it seemed uneventful. Length of grass and ground fiction could be a factors. Perhaps trying a powered-on vs. off prior to flair (as elevator aligned with prop wash) might be an option.
